General Privacy Policies

TEKNO101 collects and stores information in our secure and confidential database. Our servers are physically secured in a private data center, separate from the internet, with restricted access.

At TEKNO101, we take your privacy very seriously. Our state-of-the-art website employs the very best security measures available to protect you. We use enterprise class firewall systems and incorporate strong password policies.  We also use an outside company to monitor our website for intrusion.  Our primary means of protection is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology, which encrypts all your personal information, including your credit card data, and prevents it from being intercepted over the Internet.

Additionally, access to your account is always protected by a personal password of your choice. Finally, we will never sell or share your private personal information (except personal information in your TEKNO Community profile, that you allow other Users to view when you give them access to your profile), including your email address, to other companies for any reason, except that information necessary to facilitate the delivery of products and services you’ve ordered and/or when mandated by law.  Personal information that you post in the public areas of our TEKNO Community will be shared with other Users.

Please note that there may be sections of our website that link you to 3rd-party websites. We make every effort to link websites that we feel might be of interest to our customers, however, we cannot guarantee your privacy once you leave our website. You should review the privacy policies of the 3rd-party websites.

Ordering Products and Services

Credit card numbers provided by our customers are stored in encrypted form in our database and are not viewable by any unauthorized personnel. Intermediaries are used only to handle credit card processing and product fulfillment. A third party credit card verification company handles all credit card processing. Orders are processed and shipped by only the most reputable product suppliers.

If for any reason you do not want to provide your credit card information online, you may call our Customer Care department.

What information do we gather?

There are two places on our website where we collect your personal information for the purpose of ordering products and services – during the checkout phase of your buying process and during account registration. Depending on the information needed to complete your request/order/service, you may be required to submit a maximum of your name, date of birth, company, email address, telephone number, billing address, shipping address, associated school, and type of payment.

How Do We Use Your Information?

We have three main uses for your personal information – tracking your visit at TEKNO101, processing and shipping your order, and being able to contact you because of an issue with your order or for occasional special offers.

We track your visit by name only, not by buying habits. We use this information to stay informed about your product needs and to make sure we are offering the best products and services available.

Credit card information is requested on a per-purchase basis and it is used to only process your order. Your name, address, telephone, email, and shipping address all remain in our secure database.  TEKNO101 will in no way use or store the recipient’s email address supplied for TEKNO101’s email a friend about this product option for anything other than the intended purpose of emailing the intended page/link to the address provided.

What choices are available to you regarding collection, use, and distribution of the information?

In order to complete any request/order/service, it is necessary for you to enter a minimum amount of information. The required fields of entry are always marked with an asterisk. All other fields are optional. You always have the option of entering your credit card information on our site or calling one of our Customer Care Representatives to provide it over the phone.

How do you protect my personal and account information?

We use 128-bit encryption technology and Secure Socket Layers (“SSL”) in all areas where your personal and account information is required. Our Website is certified by Godaddy, which verifies that our Website is authentic and that we use SSL security. To view our GoDaddy certificate, click on the GoDaddy image at the bottom of our website. Our Website security information will appear.  Your personal and account information and transaction history are kept behind our firewall on separate servers.  All transaction information is processed under encrypted channels, although you may choose unencrypted processing.

In addition, we have partnered with PayPal, a leading payment gateway, to offer safe and secure credit card and electronic check transactions for our customers. The PayPal payment gateway manages the complex routing of sensitive customer information through the credit card and electronic check processing networks. The company adheres to strict industry standards for payment processing, including:

  • 128-bit SSL technology for secure Internet Protocol (IP) transactions.
  • Industry leading encryption hardware and software methods and security protocols to protect customer information.
  • Compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.

SSL Technology

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is currently the safest way to send credit card information over the Internet. Information is first encrypted on your computer, and then decrypted at our website, preventing anyone from accessing any information in between. To ensure your security, we require the use of SSL-capable browsers, such as Netscape (version 3 or greater) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3 or greater), as part of the check-out process on our website. If your browser is not SSL-capable, you will receive a message instructing you to upgrade your computer to a browser version that supports SSL.

Changing your information

You may correct or change the personal information you’ve submitted during account registration and/or checkout at any time and as often as necessary. You can access and change it from the ‘My Account’ or during the checkout process.

Delete/Deactivate Customer Information

If you would like your information to be deleted or deactivated from our site, please contact TEKNO101 Customer Care.
